Delaware State Business students have won $6,000 for their hand in an artificial intelligence competition.

Skills in working AI got the four students making up the "Fraud Busters" 1500 dollars apiece.

Developing a machine-learning model, they analyzed transactional data.

Using AI they were able to vet out which transactions are fraud and which ones are real.

Team member, Keon Caison, says the team learned tremendously from the competition.

“We learned how to prompt AI, or that is, ask questions,” Caison says. “We learned a lot about fraud, and we also learned more basics of coding, which really has nothing to do with our majors, so that was a plus.”

The data analytics company, FICO, conducted the competition with the college and provided the winners' prizes.

Chief Analytics Officer of FICO, Dr. Scott Zoldi, says that the company enjoyed working with the students and the 'next generation of data scientists.'

“The students did a tremendous job working through the financial fraud challenge and learning how to develop specialized models to detect fraud," Zoldi says. "Congratulations to the Fraud Busters for placing first, but all teams are winners and should be very proud of their work,” Dr. Zoldi said.

FICO has protected businesses in over 100 countries from fraud, improved financial inclusion and increasing resiliency in the supply chain.
