'Ginny & Georgia' Actor Responds to AI Rumors originally appeared on Parade.
Nathan Mitchell is setting the record straight about his performance on Ginny & Georgia.
After viewers began speculating that his performance on the Netflix series was the result of AI, Mitchell, 36, addressed the viral rumors during a recent appearance on New York Living.
"I am AI," Mitchell, who plays Georgia's dad, Zion Miller, joked. "I'm actually a projection. I'm a hologram. It's really advanced technology. Google's new operating system."
It all started after Season 3 of the series dropped earlier this month, with viewers claiming that the actor simply looked too good to be true.
"You look CGI, AI, or out of a video game this season," one fan commented on a recent Instagram post from Mitchell. Another doubled down, writing, "Zion (respectfully) is so good looking he just doesn't seem like a real person 😂😂 Some scenes literally look like AI."
The Boys alum, for his part, took the AI accusations in stride.
"It's funny to be scrolling through the internet and being like, 'That's just my face,' he said, laughing. "I think there might be a setting on the TV that people maybe don't know they have on that, like, filters things."
That prompted one of the hosts to suggest a Zion filter on Instagram, which Mitchell thought was a great idea.
Despite the interview putting the AI rumors to rest, not everyone was convinced, with one fan taking to the comments of an Instagram post from Mitchell's sit-down with New York Living to share their continued speculation.
"Hmmm idk you look diff in the show. On this season at least," they wrote, with another fan lovingly gushing over Mitchell's good looks: "He's just beautiful!! 🫶🏾🥰💚 Not AI at all."
Mitchell isn't the only one on the show whose appearance has come into question. Diesel La Torraca, who plays Ginny's 9-year-old brother, Austin, had a growth spurt while filming season 3—and fans took notice.
"Playing a 9-year-old for six years when you are growing… I've grown with him, but I've also kind of departed from him because I was 8 when we started [filming season 1 in 2019]," La Torraca, now 14, told Teen Vogue in a June 5 interview. "There are a lot of differences in the way that he would move and act and speak. I have to heighten my voice register, slouch a little bit [to] feel like I'm actually a shy, insecure 9-year-old."
All three seasons of Ginny & Georgia are currently streaming on Netflix.
