WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — Packed board meetings, riled-up residents, and grassroots opposition have followed news of two different high-performance computing data centers proposed near Ypsilanti and Milan.
Some residents are opposed to the University of Michigan’s plan to establish a $1.2 billion data centers campus in Ypsilanti Township. The centers would be a collaboration between the university and Los Alamos National Laboratory to research artificial intelligence and other high-performance computing technologies.
