SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Common Council announced a new feature aimed at enhancing the safety and management of Veo bikes & scooters in the city.
The Veo app will now incorporate an AI tool called the "Virtual Parking Coach" to monitor parking after use.
Users will be required to take a picture of the bike or the scooter once their ride concludes. The A.I. tool will then assess whether it's parked correctly. If the bike or scooter is left in an unsafe location, such as on the road or on private property, a violation may be issued to the user's account.
"The point of the A.I. tool is to prevent the rider from leaving the scooter in a state that is not appropriate," said a member from the Syracuse Common Council meeting. "That could be for blocking a sidewalk right in the middle, it could be tipped over, or in a doorway."
The Syracuse Common Council stated that the feature will be available in the coming weeks. Access to the electric bikes and scooters requires the Veo mobile app.
