We’re learning how to use AI to organize our schedules, summarize TV episodes, and explain what caused the drowned to drown. But AI-generated content isn’t always accurate. Reed Smart: AI Detective is a new DLC from Minecraft Education that invites you to crack three cases of AI misuse and build AI and information literacy skills.

Reed Smart is free to play on Marketplace and in Minecraft Education and accompanied by resources for families and teachers to help everybody stay curious and skeptical when it comes to using AI.

Created in partnership with Microsoft’s Tech for Society Team and digital literacy experts, this Minecraft Education world teaches players how understand and work with AI, all while you wield your magnifying glass like it was a pickaxe!

Understanding AI

AI is changing how we find and handle information, which offers fantastic opportunities for learning and creativity, but it can also be a bit tricky. For example, perhaps you’ve heard about or even seen deepfakes, which are AI-generated images or videos that have been manipulated to appear real. So, it’s very important to learn how to check a source’s credibility, understand the bias in AI, and practice lateral reading.

Good thing we have this new, action-packed DLC ready for you to jump into—complete with resources for parents if you want to spark some good conversations around the dinner table too!

Grab your magnifying glass

Reed Smart: AI Detective is available for Minecraft players of all ages, and perfect for eager learners who get to take on the role of a noir-style detective where you solve cases of AI misuse. You’ll need to examine clues, debunk manipulated content, challenge biased algorithms, make sure that sources are credible, and pinpoint misinformation.

Once you’ve cross-referenced witness statements with physical evidence, used multiple sources to create a full picture of the truth, and identified when AI hallucinates, you’ll be able to crack the case.
