SIEM REAP — Just like many technologies that came before it, artificial intelligence is simply a tool made to ease human effort. A tool that has the potential to produce positive and negative impacts depending on how it is used.

Over the last several years, AI has become in many ways a household name, grabbing the attention of many people, and especially the younger generations. That being said, mixed feelings about the power of AI still linger, affecting people’s perception.
To help remove some of the ambiguity regarding AI, Oscar Garcia discussed with Ky Chamna, a journalist with Cambodianess, how to approach AI with common sense and logic. As he explained, one should embrace AI with a human touch.
Garcia, who has been visiting Cambodia for the first time in September 2025 through an initiative of the United States Embassy, is a founder and chief empowerment officer of Apira Consulting in Silicon Valley in United States. He has met with stakeholders in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh to discuss how to approach AI technology as part of supporting economic prosperity.
In this two-part interview conducted on Sept. 19, Garcia explains why AI is the way forward, how to prepare for the influx of AI, and the perception of AI through human psychology.
