Movistar Empresas, the B2B business unit of the operator Integratel Perú, revealed the results of the "SME Digital Adoption Survey 2025." The study—conducted among 365 companies with 1 to 200 employees—analyzes the needs and prospects for digital transformation among the country's small and medium-sized businesses.
In the last five years, the urgency to digitalize has doubled: if only 46% of SMEs considered it relevant in 2021, today 96% see it as key to their growth. This radical shift reflects how competitiveness now depends on technology.
The survey shows that 6 out of 10 SMEs plan to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) to streamline their operations, enhance customer service, and support strategic decisions. However, 87% still lack a solid knowledge base for using this technology.
Digitalization in SMEs: between barriers and productivity
This lack of knowledge limits the use of technology. Although 96% of SMEs recognize that digitalization is key to their growth, 73% report not knowing where to start, lacking trained personnel, and unclear about which solutions to adopt. Despite this, 97% plan to maintain or increase their investment in digital tools this year, revealing an opportunity to close this educational gap.
The survey results also show that when SMEs manage to advance their digitalization, the benefits are tangible: 58% report having improved their productivity and customer experience with these tools. However, only 4 in 10 are familiar with them and actively use them to optimize their operations, confirming the need to continue promoting applied knowledge.
Integratel Perú, through the Movistar Empresas brand, is committed to helping close the digital business gap and offering solutions to ensure access to digital tools for Peruvian SMEs.
