CEOs Have So Much Faith in AI, They’re Ignoring Everything Else

The president of the United States is currently engaged in efforts to compromise the independence of the Federal Reserve while simultaneously eroding the integrity of national economic data, abuse the powers of the FCC to censor broadcast programming, undermine the biomedical industry, and generally demolish America’s trade relationships with the world. Under normal circumstances, the US business community would be up in arms. Instead, they traveled to the UK last week to accompany the president at a state dinner with the king.

What gives? I have a theory: Corporate America, and the US stock market, have a bad case of AGI fever, a condition in which belief in a utopian future causes indifference to the dystopian present.

摘要

The U.S. president is accused of undermining the Federal Reserve's independence, compromising economic data integrity, abusing FCC powers for censorship, harming the biomedical industry, and damaging international trade relations. Despite these concerns, American businesses remain silent and even supported the president during a state visit to the UK. The author theorizes that corporations and stock market investors are suffering from "AGI fever," which causes indifference towards current issues due to optimism about an ideal future.
